OH DEER!
I live across from an open field and forest preserve. As such, there are always a ton of deer and rabbits in the field.
They are so beautiful and so sweet. The come out mainly at dusk and begin eating and will stay out there well past 11:00 pm. On occasion, mainly if it’s a really hard winter, they will come across the street into the yards of the residents.
For years, I have felt very protective of the deer. But this has generally manifested itself solely as a feeling. I peek out at them nightly and count how many there are. I wonder where they are if they aren’t out there, which is generally when it’s extremely hot or stormy. If they are trying to cross the busy street I watch them and silently root them on or beg them to stay put.
Tonight, however, that protective feeling became active.
I peered out my front door before opening it to lock the screen door. I saw, through the still closed door, a few deer move toward a spot very close to a couple of cars outside of which stood about 8 teenage boys. I didn’t really think anything of it other than how secure they feel to get that close to people. As I was turning the handle to open the door, I saw one of the larger boys bend down to pick up something really large, about the size of a hot dog bun.
As he does this, two other boys start throwing rocks at the deer! As the larger boy pulled his arm back to throw the bun-sized object, I started screaming:
“Knock it off! What the hell is wrong with you!”
They turned to look and stopped. I locked the screen and closed the door, but I kept watching. They started laughing and no sooner had I turned the lock on the door, they started throwing things again. I flung open the door and began screaming again:
“Knock it off! I will call the cops! You think I’m kidding, keep it up! What the hell is wrong with you?”
I closed the door, shaking with anger. They stopped. Opened a trunk, looked around and saw I was still watching. They got in the cars and drove away. I am not sure if they took off because the crazy woman yelling at them scared them away or if they weren’t staying long to begin with, but they left the deer alone either way.
I have never in my life seen anyone throw anything at innocent animals for absolutely no other reason than evil self-amusement. I don’t know if they left because of me, but I strongly believe that those boys were there for more mischief than torturing deer. I think knowing someone was watching was enough to make them think twice about whatever they were there for.
I am still so angry and this happened over an hour ago. Those boys are destined for jail, harming animals like that.

I know I have made money mystery shopping. I made $300 in one week, a total of $500 for the entire month. I could have made more if I decided to accept more shops. Dealership shops pays about $50 or more, Fitness workout shops paid me $35 per shop. Doing shops with a hidden camera usually pay quite a bit also. I never do dinner shops or shops where I have to spend my own money and have to wait to be reimbursed. I got these shops after accepting a 7-day free trial for a company called shadow shopper. They are contracted by alot of different companies so everyday my mailbox was filled with assignments that I could either accept or reject. They do have a one-time fee, I don’t remember how much ( about $25 or $40) and they will send you a bunch of assignments for the rest of the year. My trial is over and I didn’t purchase it because I began working somewhere else but I would say it is worth it and the paperwork isn’t that bad.
I guess it really all depends on what each person is willing to do as far as time is concerned. It’s good to know that shadow shopper isn’t a scam, I always hesitated because of the fee. I was always told not to pay anyone for listings of mystery shops.
