Sun & A Haircut

Published by Kelly at 4:38 pm under personal Edit This

Today is gorgeous!  It’s 81 and sunny.  It’s been so hot and humid, so it’s really nice to be able to have the windows open!

Today, I had to go to get my haircut and I am so happy with it.  I’ve been going to the same person for over 20 years…I was 9…she was 16….

There are times when she doesn’t do the best job.  She can get distracted by what’s going on in her salon or a phone call or whatever.  On those occasions, my hair might not be as short as I’d like or she might cut my bangs too short, but nothing too bad.

Today, she did an excellent job.  In fact, she did something she hasn’t done before….

I’ve been getting my hair in a bob about chin length for a little over a year.  Before that, I had always had it pretty long, but I have ridiculously thick hair and it gets to be a pain because I have to use a ton of conditioner to get a comb through it when it’s long.  So last April (2007), I donated 11 inches to Locks of Love .

Ever since, I’ve kept it short because it looks better and I can take care of it easier.

Today, however, she added something new.  She shaped it around my face rather than just a straight line along the bottom.  The shaping is so much more flattering!

I’m so happy with it.  I made sure to get it cut this week so it would like nice for my mom’s surprise party next week.  Now I just have to color it…hide those grays at the roots….

I tried a bob once but I have super curly hair and it does better longer plus I love a ponytail. I love the fact that you donated to Locks of Love organization, if I really cut my hair again, I would definitely donate.

Thanks! I had realized it was getting way too long and thought about cutting it, but then I measured it and saw I only had a few more inches to go to get to the desired length for donations. My hair is so thick, we split it into 3 ponytails, each 11 inches.

I really do like my hair longer, but it looks so much better shorter. My hair expands….especially when it’s humid. I have wavy hair, so it does some really weird things…. :D

That’s a good idea. I’ll have to take a picture later. Thanks!

Who DOESN’T love a good haircut??? I decided to get inches cut from mine for the summer - into a chin length bob ironically. Just before I went to DC my stylist game me some crazy layers and shaping - LOVE IT!

oh, girls…yes!!! a good haircut can do wonders for the ego and general sense of wow…Trouble is, my hairdresser never shuts up,rabbiting on and on about his garden, daughter, blah, blah,blah..etc. So when i leave , Ifeel and look great, but have been bored rigid, and I am too polite to tell him to shut up. Any advice?

Awesome. I’m glad you liked your hair cut! I have yet to find a stylist that I like, so I only go every two years or so for a trim. So I am actually quite envious of you.

@kezza, maybe you should dominate the conversation so you don’t have to hear about his garden…but nothing so shocking that he’d screw up you do! :D

@kdarrell, I’m sorry. I know it’s hard to find a good hair stylist. I equate finding a good hair stylist to finding a good chinese food place and/or gynecologist… it’s hard to find a good one, but once you find one you love, you fight like hell to keep them! :D
