Size Does Matter

Yesterday I mentioned my parents bought a 42-inch HD LCD TV.

They installed it in their bedroom.

Now, they have been planning on redecorating their bedroom for several years.  They painted it probably a decade ago, but the furniture is over 30 years old with the exception of a few pieces that have been picked up here and there.

It’s an old house, so you can imagine that it is not a big bedroom.  There is a queen size bed, a long dresser with an attached mirror, and wardrobe (the doors fell off when I was in high school), 2 nightstands, a shoe cabinet and a DVD stand.  There is only room to walk around the bed, that’s it, and only about a foot all around.

Their plan is to buy new furniture, including freestanding closets from IKEA (the closet space is pathetic in their bedroom) a dresser and mirror, as well as nightstands.

Something always comes up to push the bedroom redecorating down on the priority list.  Last year it was doing the living room/dining room.  This year, it was the bathroom installation in the basement.

They have been wanting to get an LCD for a while.  My mom wanted a 32-inch; my step-dad wanted a 42-inch.  They would have compromised on a 37-inch, but this was such a good sale that they couldn’t pass it up and they couldn’t wait until the bedroom redecoration.

It is so big in this small room that it looks like a movie theater.  You have to sit/lay at the back of the bed in order for it to not make your eyes crazy like if you sit up close at the theater.

My step-dad can’t wait to watch the Bears game tomorrow on that TV.  We have a feeling that my brother-in-law will be coming over more frequently.

We still have the “old timey” tv’s. My son is dying for HD, my hubby would love a big screen… I don’t even watch TV! Well…. not until LOST comes back on…then, everyone is required to be silent during that hour! LOL

Speaking of TV’s…. I am doing TV trivia over at my Remember When blog www.rememberwhen.today.com This is OLD TV Trivia (60’s 70’s and 80’s) So, please come on over and try to answer some questions! It will be fun!

That is a really nice tv. I am looking for one about that size for my living room. I am like you I have never been a big fan of black Friday. I guess I will miss all of the good deals.
